Chapter in this post:
Can you believe we've been recommending five Mac apps every month for a year now? Hopefully we could make some tasks easier for you, show a Mac alternative for a Windows program, help with editing files or otherwise provide good input. If you haven't found what you're looking for in the software suggested so far (see list below), you might find it in the following paragraphs. Because today we finally have the five app recommendations for May 2022.
NEU is an app that helps you keep track of app updates. If you're just using software you download from the App Store, then you probably don't need Latest. Because Apple's own marketplace for programs already provides information about the new versions. However, if you also or mainly use apps that you have downloaded from the web - for example from the developer websites or from GitHub - then the Latest App will help you to compare the installed and the currently available version and, if necessary, an update to perform. So you don't have to check each app individually or scour their websites for updates.
Do you only want to use YouTube for the subscribed channels or for your own uploads? Are you bothered by the video recommendations that the algorithm keeps giving you? Don't want to see comments? Then the "No Distractions" for YouTube App exactly what you need. In detail, it is an extension for the Safari web browser. If you downloaded it from the Mac App Store, you activate it via the menu Safari -> Settings ... -> Extensions-Tab. If you let yourself be drawn into new video abysses again and again and want to exclude this factor for the loss of time on the Mac in the future, the one-off payment of 0,99 euros is definitely worth it.
There are many different readers for the RSS feeds of blogs, news sites and other websites whose content you don't want to miss. In August 2021 I have you z. B. Vienna introduced, and in January 2022 it was the Text to Speech app SpeechCentral. If the two suggestions are not for you, take a look ReadKit at. In the free version you can follow 20 RSS feeds and already use numerous other functions. The premium version (€39,99 one time or €1,99 monthly or €10,99 yearly) brings the possibility of using multiple accounts, removes the 20 feed limit, lets you use folders and tags, and much more.

Regarding 1. Latest: CleanMyMac also has an updater function. Well you know that ;-)
Hello Lutz,
yes, that is known. However, some users might just want to use one app for updates and not have the dozens of other CleanMyMac features on their screen. I try to show as broad a landscape of programs as possible with the app recommendations so that everyone can choose what they need for their Mac everyday life. And that is sometimes more extensive and sometimes more specialized.
Best regards
John
I use MacUpdater daily to automatically find updates. Great program even if it costs money. Downie is also my recommendation when I download films from the media library that I would rather watch than on ZDF. In connection with Popclip there is also an extension for Safari.
