5 app recommendations in November 2022

The regular formats of this blog include the app recommendations, which are always published on the 10th of the month. For November 2022 I have come up with a little twist on the well-tried top 5 list – more on that below. In addition to this small change, you will also get exciting app recommendations from the areas of productivity, window management, knowledge and lifestyle. If you haven't found what you're looking for, you can find the list of previous app ideas at the end. Among the dozens of software titles there is sure to be one that can help you when working on the Apple Mac.

1. Anki

Memorizing things is not exactly the most exciting pastime. But if you need to get the right information in your head for school, university, the flag quiz or to learn a language, you can use digital help. With the Anki app, flashcards can be put together that go beyond mere question and answer flashcards. Decks with up to 100.000+ cards can be managed in the app, whether with text, images, audio clips or videos. Anki is not only free, but can also be synchronized across different devices, so you can learn not only on the Mac, but also on the PC, iPhone, Android device.

2. Red Lines Tools

In the creative field, it's always good to have a few tools on hand. In this regard, the Red Lines Tools app offers a whole tool kit full of useful guides and colored areas that help with photo editing, designing digital content, typing in desktop publishing and other tasks of this kind. There are various line, grid, layout and overlay content that can be individually aligned and displayed. There is also a zoom tool with which the individual little helpers can be aligned with pixel precision. And best of all: the software is available free of charge in the App Store.

3.Moom

The name "Moom" is made up of Manage and Zoom. The Moom app is quite aptly named because it is a window manager for Apple computers. With this extension, which can be called up via the green dot in the app window and gives it more options for the position and size of the window, the awkward dragging and moving of windows at their edges should come to an end. So if you from the post "The best window managers for Mac“ Nothing appeals to you, then take a look at this program. There is a free demo version as well as a $10 full version.

4. wildcard macupdater

What are your favorite apps and why don't you want to do without them on your Mac, iMac or MacBook? Please leave a comment about it. If several comments are made, I draw one of the apps described, which then becomes number 4 in this list. The MacUpdater was highlighted in the comments as an app that can no longer be missed. Since we have already presented the app to you twice, I will link the relevant articles or paragraphs here:

  • Presentation of the app in the “App Recommendations” from November 2021: View here
  • Extensive individual contribution to the MacUpdater app from July 2019: View here

5. Repeat

Many ideas about self-improvement revolve around breaking bad habits and forming good ones. Both are difficult because the brain likes to think in patterns or act according to learned routines. If you want to try the whole thing and train yourself into new habits (exercise, meditation, healthier food preparation, going for walks, etc.), then the Repeat app can help you with that. Various habits can be entered in Repeat on the Apple Mac and the daily repetition can be tracked. According to the app description on Setapp, it takes 21 days to internalize a habit, so it's good to keep track of it.

  • Name: Repeat
  • Category: Lifestyle
  • Price: Setapp-Subscription for only 9,99 euros per month (incl. 240+ additional apps)
  • Info and download: Setapp

MacPaw's Setapp offers more than our previous app recommendations combined. Because the software subscription brings you more than 8,99 apps as a full version with all updates and without advertising on the Mac from $240 per month. You only install Setapp for the time being and then look for exactly the apps from the overview that appeal to you.
