Help: Forgot your iCloud password or Apple ID password?

If you've forgotten the iCloud password or don't know your Apple ID anymore, access to Apple's services from your PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android device and so on is not impossible, but it is more difficult. Because you have to assign a new iCloud password or first have to search for the Apple ID. For both of these things, Apple offers online services that should help you if you've forgotten your iCloud password or Apple ID. By the way: a new password will not be sent because it would then be known to Apple or even an employee - so you have to assign one yourself.

The Apple account, which is secured by the Apple ID (email address) and the corresponding password, gives you access to services such as iCloud, App Store, iTunes, iBooks, Messages, FaceTime, Apple Store and the Game Center . So if you have forgotten your access data and are not logged in on any device, this can quickly become a problem, depending on the extent to which the individual offers are used. However, you can find the solution directly on the registration page appleid.apple.com. Simply use the link “Forgot your Apple ID or password?” And select what you want to restore.

Forgot password

If you've forgotten the Apple password, that's basically the lesser of two evils. Because you can then simply enter your ID, have to decipher a captcha and then you can choose whether you want to receive a link by email or whether you want to answer the security questions. You specified these security questions and answers when you set up your Apple ID. If you don't know the answers anymore, have the link to reset your password sent to you by email. When you have access again, it's best to ask questions right away, the answers of which you can remember;)

Here you should know which email addresses Apple knows of you. Because if you have forgotten your Apple ID, you have to enter your first name, your last name and an email address. This data is compared with the Apple database and if there is a match, the result is output accordingly.

But this is only a blog and no official support - so we apologize for the fact that you can only be helped with this guide.

The problem with me. My provider Cablesurf was bought by Pyur. This made my Cablesurf email address invalid. So no email with the forgotten password can be sent to this address / Apple ID. All attempts to use this email address as an alias failed. By setting up a new Apple ID, I was able to save at least most of my iTunes data.

Thanks for the hint! Somehow I haven't thought of iTunes for years. I don't know when I last opened it on the Mac. : D
