This is new in iOS 17.3 for the Apple iPhone

  • Advanced protection for stolen devices: Even more actions related to Apple ID and the use of personal data are protected with Touch ID or Face ID. Information, logins and payment data on stolen iPhones should not be able to be used with the security code alone. Changing the code or Apple ID password also requires the biometric query, an hour of waiting time and then another biometric query. Protection via Touch ID and Face ID is also expanded.
  • accident detection: Accident detection on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 is being optimized.
  • Music: Shared playlists can be used by multiple people to add, arrange and remove songs. Each song entry can be commented on with emojis, for example to vote whether it should be retained or deselected.
  • AirPlay Hotel: Participating hotels can now offer a secure way to stream content directly from iPhone to hotel room TV via AirPlay.
  • Warranty Information: In the settings now AppleCare– and warranty information is displayed for all devices connected to the Apple ID. This means they are available more quickly.
  • Wallpapers: Black History Month is used as an opportunity to introduce the new “Black Unity Collection” wallpapers for the digital design of the iPhone.
  • Unnamed security updates: Other small content may include patching security holes. Apple does not name these before the update so as not to encourage exploitation of the problems.
  • StoreKit and App Store changes in the US: The ability to make app and in-app purchases outside of the App Store will be implemented. For now, this only applies to the US market. You can find details here: App and in-app purchases are now also possible externally, with many hurdles.
