Chapter in this post:
I have to admit that I think it's very positive that Apple and Amazon have come closer together again at the end of 2018 (after long arguments) and that Apple products are available again on Amazon. This is positive for end customers, not least because they are often significantly cheaper there than in the Apple Store. For this reason we can be happy that the AirPods Max already listed on Amazon are.
As with previous product sales, Amazon will presumably receive a larger shipment for their warehouses with the AirPods Max. This gives consumers the option of receiving the Apple headphones from Amazon earlier, as they are already sold out at Apple.
Currently you can find the delivery time of the Apple product on Amazon but only the note “Currently not in stock”. But I assume that this will be changed shortly. The available colors are also currently limited to “silver”, while Apple can of course find the full spectrum: pink, silver, green, sky blue and space gray.
The fact that the AirPods Max are a bestseller despite their unusually high price for over-ear headphones is already shown by the display of the delivery times when you want to buy a model from Apple. There, for example, the (obviously) popular, silver variant has already been announced for 14 weeks. I am relatively sure that they will be available on Amazon beforehand, once their contingent has arrived in the warehouse.
If you want to be absolutely sure that you receive your AirPods Max as quickly as possible, you can (but maybe shouldn't) do it like I read on another blog: You order them from both Apple and Amazon and send them then one of the deliveries back. Or you can give it away to friends and acquaintances. I am sure that you will gain a lot of plus points with them. ;-)
However, I find this approach unfair for both the dealers and the other customers. The dealers are confronted with a large number of returns, while other people's headphones are blocked for some time, as they first have to be returned to the warehouse after they have been returned.
Unfortunately not at first. Even if the over-ears from Apple appeal to me, I still find the price of 600 euros a bit too painful for the wallet.
As a rule, after a few months "on the street", the headphones are offered up to a third cheaper here and there. That was the case with the AirPods and the AirPods Pro, and I firmly expect that at some point the AirPods Max will be available for significantly less than 500 euros. Then I will probably strike.
I love how quickly my AirPods switch between iPad, Mac and iPhone and I love over-ear headphones even more because I don't like having things stuck in my ears. That's why the AirPods Max have to land on my desk at some point. And then there is also a - unfortunately belated - test report from me.
