Here and there you read again and again that the Apple AirTags are receiving a firmware update. To do this, they should be near the paired iPhone for several minutes. But how can you check whether the AirTags update has been installed? How can I find out the AirTag firmware version? I'll answer these questions about tracking accessories from Apple here. If you have any questions about Apple topics or a comment on the post, please leave a comment.
Chapter in this post:
Instructions: Check the Apple AirTag firmware version
The Apple AirTags came onto the market with firmware 1.0.225. There are updates for this from time to time, for example on August 26, 2021 with the AirTag firmware 1.0.291. If you read somewhere that there is a new update and you can also find out its version number, then you can check your tracker for any update that has already been carried out. The following step-by-step instructions can be used to find out the AirTag firmware version:
- Open the "Where is?" App on your Apple iPhone
- In the selection at the bottom of the screen, tap on the "Objects" tab
- Select the Apple AirTag whose firmware you want to check
- Tap on the name / battery display of the AirTag
- Instead of the battery display, the serial number and firmware version are now displayed
