Chapter in this post:
Apple did during the October Keynote 2021 two new models of the MacBook Pro presented. One of them offers a new 14,2-inch display with exciting details. In addition, there is no longer a touch bar, but full-size function keys again. Furthermore, the new Apple MacBook Pro 14 ″ (2021) can be ordered with the likewise new "M1 Pro" or "M1 Max" chip. The offers industry-leading laptop performance with low power consumption. In this post you will find the technical data of the new MBP as well as the prices for the various configurations. To ask? Then please leave a comment.
Here you will find details about the Apple MacBook Pro 14 ″ (2021): Technical data, prices of all configurations, pictures of the device, display and notch as well as further information.
The new Apple MacBook Pro with 14,2-inch display confirms some of the rumors that were circulating before the Apple October 2021 event. So there is actually no M1X chip, but completely new SoC models with the names "M1 Pro" and "M1 Max". These can be ordered in various configurations in the new 14-inch MBP (see price comparison below). In addition, there are again more connections and a mini LED display with ProMotion up to 120 Hz. Here is all the important data for the selectable basic models at a glance:
Here you can see the most important data on the new Apple MacBook Pro models (14 inch and 16 inch) at a glance.
We have known the notch, i.e. the camera indentation into the display, since the iPhone X from 2017. iPhones equipped with Face ID have had a notch since this model. The new models of the Apple MacBook Pro do not offer Face ID, but rather narrower bezels. Since these are only 3,5 mm thin on the top, left and right, a notch had to be created for the camera and the ambient light sensor.
This notch, which protrudes into the menu bar of macOS, was shown during yesterday's presentation, but not discussed. It can often not be seen at first glance on current product photos because the selected display images are dark at the top. So you have to look carefully to get a complete picture of the new design. Here is a picture showing the camera notch of the new MBP:
Although the new 1080p FaceTime camera was shown, the notch in which it is embedded was not discussed. It was shown with the darkest possible environment. A trick that we already know from the iPhone.
As already indicated in the Specs list, there are two basic equipment options that can be selected and a few configurations for each. These lie with the chip, which can come in the form of the M1 Pro or the M1 Max. In addition, the main memory and the flash memory can be configured. Overall, there are the following options, which are shown and listed a bit more clearly when you select them in the Apple Shop:
"What will the new Apple MacBook Pro 14 ″ (2021) cost?“You might ask yourselves. Well, that depends on the configuration as always. In addition to the RAM and the hard disk space, this time there is also a quite extensive selection of SoC models that you can choose from. The different equipment of the M1 Pro and M1 Max results in a number of combinations, starting with a basic price of 2.249 euros (8-core CPU, 14-core GPU) or 2.749 euros (10-core CPU, 16-core GPU).
Presenting the price for the new 14,2 inch MacBook Pro from Apple in a table is not that easy this time. Otherwise it always works with a matrix of RAM and SSD storage. Now, however, the selection of the M1 chips must also be included as a third factor. I have therefore decided to create several tables. These have a certain chip as their basic value (see respective heading) and show the RAM and SSD options available for it.

If you select a configuration for which the 96W power supply is not automatically intended, you can order this for 20 euros extra instead of the 67W power supply. In addition, software is also offered to you in the Apple online shop: Final Cut Pro for an additional 299,99 euros and Logic Pro for an additional 199,99 euros. If you want the most powerful configuration of the new 14-inch MacBook Pro as well as the Apple apps for video editing and music creation, you can expect a total invoice amount of 7.158,98 euros. The difference to the cheapest model without software is 4.909,98 euros. You can now organize your own number games on the Apple website.
The new MacBook Pro models were introduced yesterday, October 18, 2021. Since then, you can order them from Apple. They should be available in stores from next Tuesday, October 26, 2021. But if you look at Apple's online shop at the moment, delivery times from November 9th to November 16th, 2021 are already specified. So, even if you are fast, you shouldn't expect a delivery this month. If you pre-order, please use the comments to keep us up to date on how the delivery status is developing over time. I wish you success! :)

Glad I'm the only fan of the notch in the world. So have a famous USP. Everyone knows it and knows immediately that there is only one true Notch fan. And that's me: Horst von Delmen, or just the "Delmenhorst".
But why am I the only notch fan in the world? The answer is simple. Horst von Delmen was born in the middle of the last century. This is how he got to know and appreciate the rear-view mirrors in cars. Were those times! Horst's parents in front, little Horst in the back with a fixed view of the rear-view mirror, the prototype of all notches. And it's similar in function to boot. Just the other way around. And like the current notch, the jute, old rear-view mirror was right up there. Everyone thought the rearview mirror was great. Nobody bumped it (only grandma getting into the beetle). Even the traffic regulations made it compulsory. Therefore: Notchians of all countries unite! Your Horst von Delmen, the true, real and only notch fan
Thumbs up, Horst! I ordered the MBP BECAUSE of the notch. And because the stupid touch bar is finally gone. 😂
Ordered a 14 ″, and I've already posted it in the forum. It should come in week 45/46, anticipation 😀
