BookBuddy App - catalog books, mark them as (un) read or loaned, and much more.

Do you like to read and have an impressive collection of books? Then it's not a bad idea to catalog the individual volumes. Not only to see how many and which books are in your possession, but also to mark them as unread, read, loaned, lost or otherwise. In addition, a catalog of books with your own pictures is a good way to support the list of belongings with the insurance company in the event of damage. With the BookBuddy app for iOS, I would like to show you an intuitive solution.

Whether you collect all kinds of "Die Stadt der Träumende Bücher" editions by Walter Moers or want to catalog other books: BookBuddy is a great help;)

Help for collection, library, research

If you are a fan of a certain series of books, discover a fantasy or sci-fi world told in several volumes, or are a student of a certain subject, then a BookBuddy can be of great help. When researching, writing specialist theses or writing a book, the app can help to manage and maintain your own book database in order to search through titles, mark them as read or unread and to store comments or notes on individual books. With the free version of the app, this is possible with up to 50 books. If you want to manage more volumes, you can buy BookBuddy Pro for a one-time fee of 5,49 euros. You can download it from the App Store: Free or Banco Pro.

Unfortunately, it is only available for iOS and not for macOS. What do you still need a barcode scanner for today ??? :-) There are no more snail books.

I have been using Bookpedia for a number of years. Unfortunately, this is no longer being developed and there is no longer any support.

Of course it would be nice to have these options on the Mac, but what is not, can still be.
In fact, I prefer the iOS version because it means I can always have my books with me.
I'm one of those people who can't walk past a bookstore without looking in. I rarely go out again without a book. It happened to me again this week that I bought a book (was on sale) and found out at home that I already had it.
€ 5,95 wasted. If the app helps me avoid such expenses, because I can quickly check my inventory in the bookstore (preferably with a barcode scanner), then the € 5,49 for the app is well invested.
Thanks to Jens for the nice report.

Can someone explain how to sort the books by the author's last name?

    • Jochen says:

Sorting by author is possible and very easy:
At the bottom left, tap on the 3rd symbol (rows with down arrow). Then you can sort by title, author, genre or series.

How can I find duplicates? So z. B. double book, but different publisher or different edition.
