Today a reader asked me if I could help as his FileMaker Pro 12 keeps crashing on his MacBook since he updated that Mac to macOS High Sierra. Since I haven't been using Filemaker Pro for years, I only had to "google" as a way to help. I'm on one Forum entry found in filemaker-magazin.de, which brings a little light into the dark.
Many FileMaker users seem to have this problem there, since several users have been speaking since October 2017 who report regular crashes under both macOS Sierra (10.12) and High Sierra (10-13). Apparently all FileMaker versions up to FM 13 are affected.
If you have already updated your Mac system and can no longer go back to El Capitan, the only solution is actually a FileMaker upgrade to version 14, 15 or 16. These versions obviously don't seem big with the new operating system from Apple To have problems. However, a forum writer reports that only FileMaker 16 really runs completely "clean" for him.
Since the crashes seem to be related to the "own dialogs", a forum reader suggested this solution: exchange dialogs through layouts or pop-ups.
I have put together a few "symptoms" for you that other readers report on. Perhaps one or the other behavior sounds familiar to you:
