Chapter in this post:
FonePaw offers an app for screen recording called Screen Recorder. There are simple buttons for video, audio and webcam recording in the main window. There is also a screenshot function. Even more precise settings can be made behind the simple interface. From the video resolution to the format (mp4, avi, mov, etc.) everything is included. In addition, the entire screen does not have to be recorded; an area can also be freely selected. Whether zoom meeting, online course, assistance for troubleshooting on the computer or other application - FonePaw Screen Recorder is a comprehensive tool for various tasks.
At first glance, the Screen Recorder from FonePaw four basic functions: record video, record webcam, record audio and screenshot. These are already presented in the program window after starting the app. Below that there are the two items "Recording history" and "Set recording time". Here are a few details about the four basic functions:
In addition to the settings described, there is also a Rec button (with the exception of "Screenshot") that is clicked to start the recording. A little tip, if you can't get back to the start window from the webcam recording: just press the Esc key.
Record Zoom Meeting: Instructions for the developers
If you download the free trial version of FonePaw Screen Recorder to try it out, you will be advised to purchase or register the full version at the start. Transparency notice: I received a registration code from FonePaw for this post. This enables video and audio recordings of unlimited length to be possible. In the trial version, the recording length is limited to 3 minutes. In addition, it is only with the full version that recorded content can be cut before saving.
The settings are as simple as the app looks at the beginning. Because z. B. in the video recording function you will find a small, inconspicuous gear symbol. If you click on it, a settings window opens with options for individual adjustment of various factors. You can choose the video, audio and screenshot format, determine the video codec, select the frame rate in fps and much more. You can also choose the storage path for your recordings so that the images, videos and audio files end up in the desired folder.
In addition to the technical settings for video format, resolution, quality and the like, which are of course important for recording and storage, there are also other interesting features. For example, you can specify whether the mouse pointer should appear in the recording and perhaps even be highlighted. Before that, i.e. before the recording begins, a countdown can also be played and a beep can be played at the beginning of the recording. Keyboard shortcuts can be defined for starting, pausing and stopping the recording as well as for other functions.
As already noted, the FonePaw Screen Recorder is not only available for macOS on the Apple Mac, but also for Windows on the PC. If you want to record the screen there, completely different features are available.
For example, you can schedule screen recordings. In addition to a single start time and the planned length or end time of the video, you can create a recording schedule on the Windows PC, including the selection of individual days of the week on which the recording should be carried out at the selected time.
Probably more useful than recording plans for most users is the ability to record app windows or sections of them, even if the program windows are overlaid by others. It can be set up in FonePaw Screen Recorder so that only the selected app window or its specified section is recorded. The recording then continues in the background, even if another window is opened and the one to be recorded is superimposed. The only thing to note: the window to be recorded must not be minimized.
As noted above, you can use a free trial version of the FonePaw Screen Recorder app on macOS and Windows. However, not all functions are unrestrictedly available to you. The recording time is z. B. limited to three minutes and you cannot trim the recordings before saving. If you want to record longer and want to use all the other options of the app, there are two options:
If you want to record a Zoom meeting, university lectures, your screen for creating instructions and online courses, audio for podcasts or other content, then the FonePaw Screen Recorder app can help you. For short recordings that you don't want to edit with the app, the free version is probably enough. For longer recordings of the screen, webcam and microphone, you can take out a subscription or purchase the full version with a one-time payment. If you use the app for more than eight months, the latter is more worthwhile. What do you think about the offer? Feel free to leave a comment about the app :)
