Trash away! DE App - Report unauthorized garbage dumps to the city or municipality

The Trash away! DE App by Thomas Lennartz is a practical tool for anyone who wants to report an unauthorized garbage dump, junk dumped somewhere or garbage bags, mattresses and TVs lying around to the city or municipality. Individual cities or their regulatory authorities already offer their own web forms or apps, but this is not the case everywhere. Therefore, if you see a wild garbage disposal on the sidewalk, in a property or forest or anywhere else, you can report it directly via the app - including picture, GPS data, Google Maps link or other information on geospatial data.

With the MÜLLweg! DE App you can report garbage directly to the city, municipality or region. Thousands of contact data from all over Germany as well as official solutions from cities are stored. Reporting wild garbage dumps has never been easier!

Trash away! DE App - Report garbage via iPhone

"With MÜLLweg! DE is quickly reported wildly deposited garbage!“, It says in the App Store and on iTunes in the app description of the program. The 15,4 MB application leads in just a few steps to an official report of unauthorized dumps. There is no need to research the responsible authorities, their addresses, email addresses or telephone numbers. Who is responsible can be found much faster with the MÜLLweg! DE app and can make a direct report - including images, geodata and a map, so that the rubbish can be removed as quickly as possible. Because mostly electrical devices, paint buckets, furniture, glass and the like are not only unsightly to look at, but also harmful to the environment and dangerous for humans and animals.

Report garbage personally to the city and municipality

In the description of the MÜLLweg! DE app shows the individual advantages of the mobile solution for reporting garbage. Here are the main advantages of this method of reporting trash directly to the city or municipality:

  • No registration on any platform or network is required
  • By entering their own e-mail address, the authority receives a direct e-mail and not an anonymous report from a platform
  • Direct reporting eliminates the “public pillory” of a platform or forum, in the discussion of which the actual information is more likely to be lost or senseless pressure is built up on the community
  • Journalistic research of the contact details of individual contact persons and authorities is promised - by using public contact information, the app does not require approval from individual cities / villages
  • Trash away! DE also shows the official reporting solutions (apps, web apps) of individual cities in order to show the best possible way for garbage reports there

User criticism: "Just a WebApp"

When researching the app, I came across one Message stumbled from the iPhone ticker. There it was not only interesting to read that around 85% of the cities, regions and municipalities in the Federal Republic of Germany are already entered in Thomas Lennartz's database, but I also found a very interesting criticism including a statement from the developer in the comments. The anonymous user “AppleMan” said that the MÜLLweg! DE App is "just" a WebApp as an app and the implementation is based on the motto "The main thing is that we have an app".

In response to the criticism, Thomas Lennartz responded with a comment and showed why the app is the way it is: It is a hobby project that he runs alongside his regular work; and the effort and costs for an independent app (instead of the “wrapper” solution for the website behind it) are simply too great. In addition, the motto “The main thing is that we have an app” is a must in modern marketing in order to get to the users at all, as they often do not search for the right website or do not save it as a favorite / bookmark on the mobile device. Overall, the answer is very disarming and relativizes the grumbling from the anonymous AppleMan - here is the screenshot:
