The so-called chaiOS bug ensures with a simple link that iMessage crashes under iOS on the iPhone or iPad and under macOS on the Mac. The Safari or Firefox browser can also kill itself by calling up the link. In the meantime there is probably an update from Apple against the iMessage bug, which is to be rolled out this week.
Chapter in this post:
chaiOS bug: Github link paralyzes iMessage and browser
The malicious link that is supposed to lead to the so-called chaiOS on Github, i.e. a supposed operating system, has probably already crashed one or the other messenger or even entire devices. One of the first reports about the problem linking was on Twitter from Abraham Masri; with the words "Sends the link below and he will freeze the recipient's device and possibly restart it."
???? Effective power is back, baby!

The entire iPhone or iPad or the Apple Mac is not always affected, but "only" the iMessage app. This can get stuck and then has to be ended in a roundabout way. It is also reported that the app restarts several times or other errors occur. The whole thing is apparently due to the fact that the target page is programmed in such a way that it appears both in the iMessage page preview and when called up in the Browser to insurmountable display problems. If you received the link and have had problems with the app or device since then, then delete the corresponding conversation and / or install current updates.

Update for iOS and macOS should come this week
Last week, an update was installed in the beta for iOS 11.2.5 that is supposed to fix the iMessage link error. If the version is then rolled out as an update, the error should at least no longer occur on the iPhone and iPad. The same should apply to macOS on the Mac. When I was just checking, there wasn't a current update in High Sierra or an update that was installed last week. Let's see if I can go to Friday Sir Apfelot newsreel can report something else.
