My favorite features of iOS 14.3

As you can see above, there are of course a number of changes and new features that the iOS update brings with it, but I particularly like a few of them:

  1. Apple ProRAW - My absolute top feature, which is why I was actually looking forward to the iOS update, is the ProRAW format, which can now be used with the iPhone 12 Pro models.
  2. Updates from devices directly in the home app - Previously, you always had to go through the manufacturer's app to update the smart home devices. With the new update you can initiate the firmware updates centrally in the home app. Very convenient!
  3. Support for the AirPods Max - Unfortunately, due to the price, I can't call the Apple headphones my own or try them out, but I actually prefer over-ear headphones to in-ear plugs, so sooner or later I'll strike.
  4. Shortcuts app - Previously, the shortcuts app was always opened briefly before the actual shortcut was executed. This has now been fixed and the short display of the shortcut app is gone under iOS 14.3. Setting your own icon for the shortcut no longer requires third-party apps.
  5. Pregnancy in Health App - No, I am not affected myself, but I think the expansion of Health to include pregnancy is very good, because many women are already using apps for this purpose.
  6. App clips - The small mini apps are absolutely useful for many areas of application. I'm curious to see how it will spread in everyday life, but in my environment (village in Northern Hesse) I do not expect to see an app clip anytime soon.
  7. Ecosia as a search engine option - Unfortunately, for professional reasons, I have to use Google as a search engine optimizer, but if you can now use Ecosia as your standard search engine, I think that's a very good thing. If you don't know Ecosia, you can here read a bit about the concept.

Should I install the update?

I would say: Absolutely, because the iOS updates usually hardly cause any problems. And the current update is also equipped with so many practical functions that it offers additional added value in addition to bug fixes. In any case, I installed it directly - also so that I can finally use Apple ProRAW.
