iPad Pro 2020: available immediately at Amazon, long delivery time at Apple

The new iPad Pro 2020 is the 4th generation of Pro-iPads and a step forward that has moved me to add the 12,9-inch model to the shopping cart of the Apple Store app. I didn't order it, however, because Apple currently has delivery times of 2 to 3 weeks. It's a damn long time once you've decided to buy Apple's snappy tablet.

Fast alternative: Buy iPad Pro from Amazon

The Amazon store offers an interesting alternative here, because there both display sizes (11 and 12,9 inches) and the various equipment variants are in stock and can be delivered immediately.

To make your selection, simply click on the corresponding display size and then on Amazon you can still choose between WiFi and mobile phone variants and choose the storage sizes 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1TB as well as between silver and space gray as the color:

• Apple iPad Pro 2020 (4th gen) - 11 inches
• Apple iPad Pro 2020 (4th gen) - 12,9 inches

Update: not all models available at Amazon either

I have just clicked through the different display sizes and features on Amazon again and unfortunately certain configurations are no longer available here, too. It is best to have a look at your favorite setup and check whether it is available there directly.

Attention: “latest model” is the previous model from 2018!

I was about to create the links to Amazon when I noticed that in the product photo of the entry "Apple iPad Pro (11-inch, Wi-Fi, 256GB) - Space Gray (Latest Model)" there is an old iPad Pro from 2018 . So you have to be careful what you order here, because ultimately you can only tell what the new and what the old iPad Pro model is by looking at the camera module.

I ultimately have searched for “iPad Pro LIDAR”., as only the latest iPad Pro from 2020 has the lidar camera built in. But even here misinformation prevails at Amazon, because the product name says "(2nd generation)", which is total nonsense, because the product photos and the rest of the description text clearly show the iPad Pro 4th generation (20202).

Disadvantages of buying on Amazon?

Some users have asked if there are any downsides to getting the iPad Pro through Amazon rather than Apple directly, and if the 1 year free Apple TV+ offer is valid even if you didn't buy the device from Apple.

In principle, there are no disadvantages, because Amazon will also help you with hardware problems or an exchange. There are very clear legal regulations for this.

You can also get the typical 90-day support from Apple without any problems, because Apple always requires the serial number of the device for the test anyway and no invoice or the like.

1 year of free Apple TV + on every iPad

The offer where you get the Apple can use streaming service free of charge for one year, applies to all purchases of iPads. It doesn't matter which shop you bought the device from.

If you have set up the iPad Pro with your iCloud account, you will automatically receive an email informing you that you can use Apple TV + free of charge for one year.

It is important here: If you cancel the free “subscription” before the end of the year, the remaining usage time of the trial subscription expires. This is a "trap" that some people have fallen into, thinking they can unsubscribe right away before forgetting in a year.
