Chapter in this post:
For support inquiries and some other situations, the Serial number or the IMEI of the iPhone needed. Therefore it is not entirely unimportant to know where to find these numbers. This can of course be done in the device's system, but also if the iPhone is switched off or even lost. In this little guide I would like to show you how you can find out the IMEI number and the serial number in different ways.
Do you have your iPhone at hand and it works perfectly, then you just go into that Settings-Menu. There you call the submenu General on, and then there Info. Information about the model, the serial number, the Wi-Fi or WLAN address, the Bluetooth connection, the IMEI as well as the ICCID, MEID and so on are given. So if you have to specify the IMEI somewhere (support, remove Netlock, etc.), then you can simply search in the device information.
If the iPhone is present but switched off, you do not need any software or any elaborate procedures. Because Apple writes the IMEI and / or serial number in different places on the device. For example, you can find the IMEI or MEID in the following models in SIM tray: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 4s, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G.
With other models you can easily find the IMEI or MEID On the back of the unit. Such information is located between the large lettering “iPhone” and the safety symbols (FC, CE, etc.). According to Apple, the identification numbers are engraved on the back of these models: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5. This also applies to the iPad and iPod.
If your device is lost, you can still use the original packaging for the Apple device - if it is available. In addition to the serial number, the IMEI is also recorded on a sticker with various barcodes and other numbers. If you don't want to keep the original packaging, you should at least keep this sticker.
Alternatively, if all else fails, you can iTunes consult. However, only if you have already made a backup of the iPhone on a Mac, MacBook, PC, etc. Because the individual backups are listed in iTunes. If you move the mouse pointer over one of these device updates, the phone number, IMEI, MEID and serial number are displayed as quick info. This works with an iPhone in the same way as with an iPad, iPod or similar Apple devices.
Then there is also the case that the device is available and can be connected to the computer. So if for any reason one of the above methods fails, connect the iPhone to the Mac or PC, start iTunes and click on the tab Overview (Summary). In addition to the storage space, the iOS version, telephone number, serial number, etc. are displayed.
