Chapter in this post:
It will be a few more weeks before Apple's new iPad keyboard case (in a floating design) comes out. However, if you are in dire need of a keyboard case for your new one iPad Pro 2020 required, theoretically you can also use sleeves that fit the 2018 iPad Pro model. Not much has changed here in terms of the basic dimensions - but the camera section is completely different. So to convert the new 11- or 12,9-inch iPad Pro into a laptop, you can use a third-party tablet case, a not entirely compatible Apple case and / or a Bluetooth keyboard. Here are a few tips for the substitutes;)
While you can get simple sleeves and bags for the new iPad Pro 2020 from € 10,99, the manufacturer's own models including keyboard and trackpad cost many times more. If you really want to spend 339 euros or 399 euros, you are welcome to do so. I would then rather choose a cheaper cover that comes with its own keyboard or that I can equip with another Bluetooth keyboard. Of course, the fact that the original Apple cases with a floating design and Magic Keyboard will only be on the market from May 2020 also plays a role. If you need a solution right now, take a look at the following offers.
With sleeves and bags for the 2018 iPad Pro, you can hope for a good fit due to the same external dimensions. However, you should be aware that the camera section will be too small. If you don't want to use the double camera and the 3D sensor or if you dare to convert the cheaper keyboard cover (this of course means that the return claim is lost), this is certainly a good alternative. Here are a few examples of good and very good rated iPad Pro 2018 keyboard cases:
The Logitech Slim Folio Pro Keyboard case for the previous iPad Pro from Apple received an average rating of 4,3 out of 5 stars. A full 65 percent of users rated it very good (5 stars), and a further 17 percent rated it good (4 stars). You can find the right case on the product page for the 11 inch model as well as for the 12,9 inch model. They currently cost only 94,90 euros and 110,99 euros.
A cheap alternative to the upcoming Apple offer and the Logitech case is the Jelly Comb offer. A case is available for the 3rd generation iPad Pro with a 12,9-inch display offered for 49,99 euros. Interestingly, you can see on the product images that the camera recess is already much larger and the case has been prepared for the 4th generation of the Apple tablet. Unfortunately, there are no customer photos to confirm this. But on average 4,4 out of 5 stars.

In addition to the keyboard covers shown above, which you may have to tinker with so that they fit perfectly on the new Apple iPad Pro, there are also more up-to-date covers and bags without keyboard. You can do this, for example, with the mobile Apple Magic Keyboard connect that gives you the original Apple typing experience. The ZtotopCase model, for example, which you can buy for 21,99 euros, has been rated very well and has been awarded “Amazon's Choice” for the 11-inch tablet can. The counterpart for the 12,9 inch version you can buy it for 23,99 euros.
A keyboard on the Apple iPad not only ensures that you can type faster on the Apple company's tablet as you are used to from a Mac. Keyboard shortcuts can also be used in the iPadOS system and in the individual apps. These come very close to the shortcuts for macOS and make the transition between working on the Mac and working on the iPad easier. You can find a guide on the subject here: iPad Shortcuts - Key combinations for the Bluetooth keyboard on the Apple tablet. In it you will not only find examples of useful keyboard shortcuts on the iPad, but also a trick with which you can display a shortcut overview directly on the device.
You can also find a book recommendation here in the Sir Apfelot blog: “Keyboard shortcuts for the Mac” by Jonas Kraft. In the contribution to the book you will get an insight into its content and structure. A photo also shows you the table of contents so that you can already see whether the working aid for macOS on Mac, iMac and MacBook could be useful. The best thing about the guide: even the printed version with 96 pages full of useful shortcuts costs only 4,95 euros. So it is worthwhile to take a look and thus speed up the Mac workflow.
