Luminar Neo: Resize images and remove backgrounds with extensions

In the middle of the month, the software company Skylum for Luminar Neo announcedthat the app shouldn't just be another program for photo editing. Rather, Luminar Neo is made into a "platform" whose functions can be adapted through a wide variety of extensions. A total of seven expansions will also be released by the end of 2022. In July there was the "HDR Stitch" and in August the "Intoxication AI". Two more have now been announced: "Upscale AI" for extrapolated image sizes and "AI Background Removal" for cropped photo motifs. The last three extensions will be presented later.

With the two new extensions "Upscale AI" for extrapolated image sizes and "AI Background Removal" for cropped photo motifs, Skylum has presented further options for using the platform for photo editing.

Upscale AI and AI background removal for Luminar Neo

The "Upscale AI" extension is intended to use a smart algorithm to help increase the photo resolution without losing much of the original image quality. This can help prepare photos for high-resolution screens, for inclusion in 4K or 8K video, and for large print publications. Similar application possibilities as well as the easier creation of collages and photo montages also makes the "AI background removal" possible. This should capture every photo motif (human, animal, object, etc.) cut out automatically and detach from the background. This makes it easier to replace. Both extensions can be added to Luminar Neo starting in November.

Luminar Neo: Price in subscription and single purchase models

In addition to the main version of Luminar Neo, early bookers who decide to purchase the subscription model will also receive all expansions published by the end of 2022 as well as the "10 glorious skies" package. A monthly payment of €14,95 (a total of €179,40 per year) or an annual payment of €89,00 (equivalent to €7,42 per month) is possible. Furthermore, a single purchase can be made without a subscription. This costs €99,00 for the main version and another €199,00 for all extensions. If you are only interested in individual extensions and not in the whole package, they can be added from €49,00 each. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee. 1. Hi John,
I visit sir-apfelot.de more often via app and newsletter.
I would prefer if the chapter overview of each article didn't just disappear on the first tap. Is it possible to retrieve the overview somehow or keep it permanently?

    1. Hello Eva,

thanks for pointing out the problem. I just checked the app and the mobile website myself. On the latter, the chapter overview can at least be expanded again. In the app it seems to disappear. This is probably due to the website's theme or a plugin. But I don't know enough about it; Jens takes care of the technical aspects of the blog. But I'll let him know directly so that we can find a solution :)

      Best regards
      John

    2. Hello Eva! Thank you for your note. And thank you John. You've got it right with the theme. 😊 I'll take a look at it (I was able to understand it too), but I have to see if I can still do it. I have to use a new Wordpress theme at some point anyway and then everything is “new” again and has to be adjusted. I also noticed that you also get the reference to the app when you use the app. This is also totally stupid. 😂 I'll see what I can solve and what the app programmer might have to do. Would you actually prefer the table of contents to remain expanded instead of minimizing (on the desktop)? LG, Jens

    3. Hello Eva! I think the problem should be solved now. The table of contents is now visible in the app and can be opened and closed. I also removed this Smart App Banner because it is useless in the app.

  2. Hello you two,
    many thanks for your help.
In my app, however, it only caused the chapters to be seen briefly after clicking on a topic on the article page and then disappear directly, all by themselves. There is no way to call them up again. :(
