It has been known for a long time that there will be new iPads this year, if only because of the lack of updates last year. It was still unclear whether Apple would make a big deal about this or only communicate a device launch via a press release. As of today, however, there is certainty: before the WWDC24 in June There will be a new Apple event on May 7, 2024. It will take place at 16:00 p.m. Central European Time (7:00 a.m. local time). What will Apple unveil during the keynote?

Here's a summary of the rumors so far surrounding the various devices that (could) be unveiled at the event:
iPad Pro
Major innovations are expected for the iPad Pro models, as the last hardware update was over 550 days ago. It is believed that the new 11 and 13 inch Pro models will be equipped with a powerful M3 chip and an OLED display. They should also be even thinner (only 5 or 5,1 mm) and have narrower display bezels.
Other possible features include an option for a matte display, a FaceTime camera positioned on the long side and wireless charging via MagSafe. In addition, there could be a redesigned Magic Keyboard made of aluminum with a larger trackpad.
iPad Air
Changes are also expected with the iPad Air. There will be a 12,9-inch model in the iPad Air series for the first time. The M2 is suspected to be the chip here. While the smaller Air model will probably have an LED display, the larger version will be equipped with a high-quality mini-LED display.
iPad Mini
Unfortunately, there is so far little concrete information about the iPad mini. An improved display with 120 Hz promotion would of course be desirable, but this is unlikely. Since the update cycle for the iPad mini has always been very long and is not directly related to the other iPad models, it is more likely that a new version of the mini tablet will be presented later in 2024.
Apple Pencil
Another highlight could be a new Apple Pencil. In addition to the well-known double-tap gesture, this should also have an innovative pinch gesture that can be used to change tools or carry out other actions. A magnetically holding tip is also expected. Hopefully the new Pencil will be compatible with all iPad models to provide more clarity for potential buyers.
Overall, the Apple iPad Event 2023 promises some exciting innovations, even if big surprises such as new AI chips are unlikely. Apple is likely to save this for the iPhone 16 presentation in the fall.
