New M2 iPads should appear in a few days

The well-connected Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman noted in his latest "Power On" newsletter that Apple could announce new products in just a few days. These are mainly the new models of the iPad Pro M2 chip, but also the new versions of the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max could be presented without a big event. It looks very much as if a keynote will no longer be used for the device presentation, but rather press releases and adjustments in the online store will be used directly for the announcement.

Apple's events page doesn't show a date for October 2022. It's strongly believed that the new versions of the iPad, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro will simply be unveiled via press release. I keep my eyes open for you!

The next iPad Pro generation is expected to appear soon

"Apple Inc.'s next iPad Pro is arriving in a matter of days' writes Mark Gurman in his newsletter. The latest iPad Pro is set to come back in the proven 11-inch and 12,9-inch sizes. Nothing should change in the general design either. However, the devices with the code names J617 and J620 are supposed to have a new M2 chip, which is already in current MacBook models. But a new entry-level model of the Apple tablet is also being planned, it is noted. The devices could then come onto the market / be delivered next week, since iPadOS 16.1 should only be planned for week 43.

New MacBook Pro models will probably come later

In the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, the stronger M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are said to be the biggest adjustment. There shouldn't be any major innovations in the design, the connections, the display or the general functionality. Also, Mark Gurman notes that the new Apple laptops are unlikely to be released right next to the new tablets. But since iPadOS 16.1 and macOS is coming could appear at the same time, there may only be a week between the releases. So October could still be a few press releases Cupertino bring with you - I'm curious :D

Why is Apple saving the October event?

There can be two reasons why Apple chooses a Keynote saves this month. The first reason is the not too big updates. The switch to Apple silicon we all got it and we also know what the Pro and Max models of the M chip are all about; regardless of whether version 1 or 2. And since there will be hardly any adjustments to iPad and MacBook apart from these SoC models, no event around the release is worthwhile. The second reason could be the mixed reality headset, which is expected in early 2023. According to Mark Gurman's newsletter, Apple could save its marketing energy for just that.
