No March event, but new Apple announcements this week?

Over the weekend, news about Apple's March releases overtook each other. While Mark Gurman reported in his newsletter that Apple was not planning a special event, but wanted to present its new products via press releases, advertising videos and campaigns, MacRumors says that the whole thing should happen this week. The source is kept secret at MacRumors, but is served with a pinch of advance trust due to past correct insider information. I'll keep an eye on the Apple Newsroom for you.

Update March 4, 2024, 16:20 p.m., rumor has been confirmed: New MacBook Air with M3 introduced (End of update)

Mark Gurman: Apple is not planning a March keynote

Still mid-February there was talk of a big March event. After all, there will be new models of the iPad Pro, among other things, in which the camera will be repositioned. The iPad Air is also to be renewed, not only in terms of the built-in M chip, but also in terms of the display size. Updates for the MacBook Air and the HomePod are also expected. The Apple Vision Pro could soon be sold outside the US - that would make sense before WWDC24 in June.

But according to Mark Gurman's "Power On" newsletter, there is probably no consistent presentation of products and announcements. Rather, Apple should rely on press releases, YouTube videos, television commercials and other advertising media. In addition to the new iPads in the Air and Pro series, Gurman says there will also be a new Pencil and a new Magic Keyboard for the latter. And despite chip, camera and accessory changes for the iPad Pro - actually enough content for one Keynote – the next big Apple event won’t be WWDC until June.

MacRumors: New Apple devices already this week

"Apple plans to announce new products via press releases on its website this week, a source familiar with the matter has told MacRumorssays (translated) MacRumors' article on the subject. That would mean that from Apple this week it's not just that Update to iOS 17.4 as well as other intermediate versions of various operating systems. But also numerous reports about the new MacBook Air with M3, the iPad Air in two different sizes, the iPad Pro with M3 and new accessories, etc.

You should keep an eye on the Apple Newsroom - but I already do that for the work on the Sir Apfelot Blog. Incidentally, the assumption that Apple could introduce a new Apple TV and a HomePod with a display is not part of the secret source's statements, but is part of the collection of current Apple rumors. However, it is not clear whether these devices are ready for publication and mass production. So it remains exciting.
