Sir Apfelot - The Apple Blog about Mac, iPhone, iPad, Watch and accessories - completely in German
I have been working with the Apple Mac for many years - almost decades. Formerly in desktop publishing, but for several years in PHP programming, web design and online marketing. While I used to work more on the iMac, I now take advantage of the freedom that the MacBook and MacBook Pro offer me. Admittedly, I don't use my MacBooks very often, but I do now and then. For this reason, my solution with an external keyboard, mouse and monitor is the best compromise for me!
Why I started the Apple Blog
Sir Apfelot has been around for a few years now. I originally set up the Apple Blog to collect the experiences and solutions that I have worked out for problems with iPhone, Mac and Co., centrally. After several weeks, however, I noticed that there was some feedback from readers who thanked them for the instructions. That ultimately motivated me to keep adding to my German Mac blog. In the meantime, I no longer only write about Apple Mac and macOS, but also about iPhone, iPad and iOS as well as the Apple Watch and watchOS. In exceptional cases also via Android, Windows and PCs - but these are more marginal topics;)
German Mac News and Guides
A good portion of Sir Apfelot is taken up by Mac News, i.e. news and news about Apple's computers. Whether iMac, Mac or MacBook (Pro) - the individual computers with OS X and macOS are made by the makers Cupertino regularly provided with updates and upgrades. If any of these seem important to me, I'll cover them in a post. Also summaries of WWDC or September-Keynote are always good for this. There are also apps, i.e. individual programs and other software for the Mac / MacBook. From system helpers that simplify operation and settings to multimedia programs and games, a wide variety of Mac apps can appear here on the blog.
In this context, Mac guides are repeatedly made available to readers on Sir-Apfelot.de. These can be tips and tricks for macOS, help with difficulties after an update or recommendations for software and hardware. Modifications, conversions and the like are rarely considered, Mac accessories play an important role. Especially with the newer MacBook Pro models, which are limited in terms of connectivity to USB-C ports, there are numerous accessories that are presented here - preferably in the form of a field report after a comprehensive test!
iPhone news and guides
Apple grew up with computers and with the iPhone, the first “real” smartphone, it became the most important company. This is why this Apple blog is also about the iPhone, the iOS operating system and, last but not least, iPhone accessories. From cases and screen protectors to charging cables and power banks to more special peripherals such as memory expansions, microphones and Bluetooth headphones, there is a lot included. For each of the product examples mentioned, you will find one and the other test on my site. In the meantime, technology tests and product presentations have become an important part of this page.
But so that consumption does not gain the upper hand, there are plenty of advice, instructions and answers to readers' questions in this Apple blog. The Sir Apfelot page could almost be described as the “Apple Forum”, as there is sometimes a strong exchange in the comments and interesting questions keep coming in via the contact form. If I consider this to be of interest to the general public, I not only send the questioner an answer, but also turn it into an advisory article. There are already a lot of instructions and help articles for the iPhone.
iPad, iPod, Apple Watch
In addition to Mac and iPhone, the iPad, iPod, Apple Watch, Apple TV and numerous other technology from Apple, for Apple devices and from completely different areas also play an important role for me. For example, I use my iPad for websites, for apps, to control my DJI drones and, last but not least, as (of course limited) leisure activities for my children. Speaking of family: the Apple iPod no longer plays a major role in the Cupertino product family. However, this makes it particularly interesting as a used device. I described my purchase of a used iPod in this blog by means of an article so that all readers can find out where one can safely buy used Apple devices.
With the Apple Watch Series 3, which was presented in addition to the iPhone 8 (Plus) and the iPhone X at the September Keynote 2017, I also have Apple's first watch in use. The new technical data, especially the cellular network, which works with the Apple Watch 3 without an iPhone, convinced me. You can also find articles on beginner questions and problems, notes on usage, and watchOS and accessories in this Apple blog. If you have any questions about the watch, smartphone, laptop or desktop computer from Apple, please feel free to ask them. I always try to answer readers' questions as best I can.
DJI drones, photography, image processing
Also drones, especially those from DJI like that DJI Mavic Air, DJI Spark or DJi Phantom 4 Pro, play an important role here at Sir Apfelot. Since I have some models myself, you will also find one or the other test report, some advice on hardware and software as well as answers to questions asked by readers. There are also comparisons of individual models - within the DJI family as well as with other manufacturers, such as GoPro. This already shows that Sir Apfelot has grown from an Apple blog over the years to an extensive technology blog for all kinds of techies, nerds and interested parties. Still: Apple is always the main theme; and the DJI drones can also be paired with iPhone and iPad.
The subject of photography is also dealt with here in various ways. On the one hand, of course, through the quadrocopter, for which there are also information articles (Drone driver's license, License plate badges, etc.), but on the other hand with regard to the cameras and suitable image processing software built into the iPhone. There are some reports, tests, and recommendations for cameras and accessories such as clip-on lenses. In the area of image and photo editing, both mobile software for iOS and software for macOS are dealt with. Both systems are used, for example, by the program Affinity Photo by the developer Serif or by luminar very well served.
Sir Apfelot sweepstakes
If you as a blogger have achieved a certain reach and thus a certain advertising relevance with your Apple Blog, then from time to time you will also cooperate with companies. For me, as an Apple Blogger, these are preferably manufacturers of technology and accessories or developers of Mac software. The cooperation results in some tests, but sometimes also competitions. A competition not only brings information about this product or app as added value to the reader, but also what is presented itself. So if I am convinced of products or programs, then I will also be happy to work out a competition for Sir Apfelot's website my readers can also benefit from it.
Sir Apfelot newsletter
The Sir Apfelot newsletter tends to be closely related to the competitions. In addition to the other articles that were published over the course of a week, competitions are also featured in the newsletter of this Apple blog. In this way, all readers who do not come in regularly but keep themselves up to date through e-mails from me can always ensure that they participate in the raffle on time. There is also one or the other newsletter competition, which only makes gadgets and accessories available as a prize for those who are in the e-mail distribution list. Another way of always staying up-to-date is with push notifications, which you can subscribe to for smartphones (iOS and Android) and Google Chrome, among other things.
WordPress: help and advice
Since I myself work in the areas of online marketing, search engine optimization (SEO) and page building - not only for this Apple blog, but also for customers who hire me - I am very familiar with WordPress and suitable plug-ins. Therefore, in addition to Apple topics, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, accessories and gadgets, there are also a few posts on CMS topics here in the blog. If you have questions about WordPress or problems with the system, you can also get rid of your question here. If it is a question with a larger target group, it may even become a reader question article.
Summary
As a more or less professional Apple blog, Sir Apfelot went online a few years ago. In the meantime, the site is blessed with a larger readership and can in some cases almost be viewed as a forum for Apple and other technology topics. In addition to news, news and news about Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, there is also plenty of advice on macOS, iOS and watchOS (as well as one or two things about Apple TV with tvOS). By establishing itself as an Apple Blogger that is well worth reading, test reports, sponsored articles and competitions are possible. This page brings together useful content, entertainment, product recommendations and the chance for free technology. I am excited to see what the further growth will bring and look forward to your feedback!
