Since Monday you can pre-order Pitaka's new iPhone cases on the manufacturer's own website. This is the light and thin Pitaka MagEZ Case 4 with cutouts for the buttons as well as around that Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro 4 with even more protection and coverage of the four device buttons. The new cases are designed for the iPhone 15 range, which will be presented on September 12, 2023. From now on you can also order them from Amazon. I already have a MagEZ Case 4 here. I haven't been able to test this for its fit yet, but for its NFC capabilities.

Transparency note: Get the iPhone case as a free test product
I received the Pitaka MagEZ Case 4 for the iPhone 15 Pro for free as a test product. However, this has no influence on the content of this post. The manufacturer has bought no say and all described impressions and reviews are from me.
Watched: Pitaka MagEZ Case 4 for the iPhone 15 Pro
Do you remember that a year ago I the Pitaka MagEZ Case 3 for the iPhone 14 Pro have? Now, with this post, there is an update on the subject, so to speak. Because the presentation of the iPhone 15 series is imminent. And so the accessories manufacturer Pitaka not only has new cases that fit the new Apple smartphones, they also bring new features with them.
While the manufacturing process and design are similar (I received the "Ouverture" design in 600D aramid fiber like last year), the new cases have added NFC or RFID chips. Not only can this be used to check the authenticity of the case, it can also be used to call up offers such as background images, music and games. To use the offer called “PITA Studio”, you will be redirected to a website.
How does a Pitaka case feel like this?
Pitaka covers and cases are made from braided aramid fiber that is pressed to the right shape. As one of the first on the market, Pitaka has further developed the braiding process from single-colored and monochromatic designs to patterns and pixel graphics. There are now a wide variety of designs, so there is something for everyone.
Over the past few years, I've had a Pitaka test product in my hand from time to time (fortunately, because if you want to buy the cases yourself, you have to dig deeper into your pocket than with other cases). I really like the look and feel of the cases. They have a grippy surface that feels supple and won't let the iPhone slip out of your hand.
They are also very thin. The MagEZ Case 4 measures just 0,95 mm thick. The more robust MagEZ Case Pro 4 has a thickness of 1,65 mm.
Thanks to the even thinner, integrated magnets, the cases are not only better compatible with the MagSafe features of Apple accessories, but also with the magnet holders and chargers from Pitaka itself. But you don't notice the magnets. There are no bumps or other discontinuities in the shell surface. If I buy an iPhone 15 Pro, I will definitely use the case. It's light, thin and I already have it there :D
Scan the NFC tag to verify authenticity and use PITA Studio
I have to admit, scanning NFC tags with the iPhone can be a tricky thing at times. That was already with her Using the AirTag as an NFC chip so. And I also needed a few attempts with the Pitaka MagEZ Case 4. But when I hit the right spot (slightly below the middle of the lettering printed on the back), there were two notifications that took me to the Pitaka website.
After successful scanning, you get to the Pitaka website. There you then choose which shell you use, in which region you use it, where you got it from and what serial number it has. This can be found on the inside of the camera protection on the case. You also have to provide an e-mail address. I guess this is important for using the PITA Studio (see below). If you now tap on "Submit", you will get the message that it is a real Pitaka case.
Verifying the authenticity of the Pitaka case: link to the website
The funny thing is that fakes probably won't have an NFC chip that leads to the Pitaka website. Ergo, you can't even recognize fakes this way. So if you are really interested in verifying the authenticity of your Pitaka case, if in doubt, you should know the direct link to the relevant website. PITA Studio: It will probably only start with the iPhone 15
After confirming that my case is genuine, it didn't go any further. I was not forwarded to "PITA Studio". And there was still no ticket in the inbox of the given e-mail address (as promised on the note that came with the cover). But then I found the PITA Studio page via a search engine: Here it is.
There's still a yawning emptiness there, but that doesn't mean anything. Because the new cases with NFC will only be officially launched next week. This means that the page will probably only be filled then. I will keep you updated on this. I'm excited to see what wallpapers and music and games will be there. I don't expect high-end content, but entertaining offers nonetheless.
Update: Pitaka confirmed to me that the PITA Studio will only start from September 12, 2023. (end of update)
Conclusion on the new Pitaka offers
Pitaka has carved its own niche and is serving it very well. The aramid fiber covers and the other accessories offered are not cheap, but they are of high quality and durable. With the MagEZ Case 4 and the MagEZ Case Pro 4, the iPhone 15 (Pro) is well protected against bumps and scratches. There is a protective border for the camera hump. The sleeves have not been reinvented, but the previous quality has been retained. So if you're considering an expensive case to protect an expensive smartphone, then take a look at the offer.
