Chapter in this post:
POCO F5 - Fast smartphone for fans of games and series
On the way to or from work, in the waiting room or simply at home on the sofa - taking out the mobile phone and playing something or watching films and series is normal for many. It is important that the performance of the device also does justice to the desired activities. This is made possible by the combination of efficient chips, an AMOLED display and good cooling technology.
The new POCO F5, which will be presented on May 9, 2023, is intended to prevent battery problems that occur too quickly when watching series and when gaming in the future. In addition, not only a high battery performance is considered, but also the central processing unit of the device. This is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen2, which is manufactured in the same 4nm architecture as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. The latter is installed in the Pro version.
Compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen1, the Gen2 offers a huge increase in performance - the CPU unit is up to 50% faster and the GPU unit is twice as fast. The POCO F5 also performs much better with its technology in comparison to common Snapdragon chips that are installed in other Android smartphones in the price range. Here is an overview of the common chips and their consumption with different uses:
Mobile gaming (PUBG) | Telephony | Video recording in 4K | |
Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 | 2,23 W | 0,53 W | 1,19 W |
Snapdragon 870 | 2,66 W | 0,57 W | 1,30 W |
Snapdragon 888 | 2,67 W | 1,09 W | 1,53 W |
Important for gaming: cooling of the hardware is integrated
In order to be able to exhaust the maximum performance of the fast Qualcomm chip, both it and the battery naturally have to be cooled under load. The new POCO F5 and its Pro version bring both LiquidCool 2.0 and HyperBoost optimization technology. The heat is bundled with newly designed, highly efficient steam chambers and dissipated by means of steam channels. By dissipating the heat and thus actively cooling the hardware, it should not be necessary to frame count of the game or to reduce the brightness of the display.
All information will be available tomorrow when the devices are launched
In addition to the comparatively very good performance and the other good specifications for using digital media on the new POCO F5 (Pro), there are other interesting specs. For example, the basic version comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The 64MP triple camera also offers optical image stabilization. And the design of the devices is also impressive.
