Chapter in this post:
I got that a few weeks ago Red Road V17 Received from the manufacturer for testing. In principle, this device is a cordless hand vacuum that can be used if you want to quickly vacuum a few corners in the house. Due to the narrow brush, it is less suitable for large areas, because the floor vacuum cleaner with a mains connection still scores well here. Details about the Redroad can also be found on the Manufacturer's product page.
The Redroad V17 is a very stylishly designed cordless handheld vacuum cleaner that comes with a replaceable battery.
Note: The vacuum cleaner was provided to me free of charge, but this in no way affects my rating. The manufacturer was also unable to read the test report in advance. So everything I write here is my unadulterated, personal opinion.
An overview of the technical data is always useful for a rough classification of the performance and runtime, so here is all the information in brief:
Here you can see how large the scope of delivery of the Redroad V17 is - in addition to the actual vacuum cleaner, there are numerous attachments, adapters and nozzles (photos: Sir Apfelot).
When unpacking, my wife made a few enthusiastic remarks, who was particularly pleased with the look of the vacuum cleaner. The white, futuristic design is a nice change from the other gray devices.
But the gray color also has advantages, because the plastic tubes of the vacuum cleaner like to charge themselves electrically and then catch all kinds of fluff and hair. With the white tube of the Redroad V17, the hair is of course much more noticeable, so that you are forced to clean the vacuum cleaner yourself sooner than would be the case otherwise.
This can now be seen as an advantage or a disadvantage. It doesn't particularly bother me as the Redroad V17 hasn't attracted a lot of dust and hair to the case, despite our many pets. This is the case much faster with my Dyson hand vacuum cleaner.
You can open the dust container on the right of the red fastener, then the fastener opens and you can empty the dust and the 1000 cat and dog hairs.
A word of praise for the Redroad V17: The closure for the dust container is easy to use and the filling then falls cleanly into the trash can. I've had vacuum cleaners that I broke my fingers and cursed out loud every time I had to empty them. That doesn't happen with the Redroad.
We have had a cordless hand vacuum in our household for years that is very similar to the Redroad V17, namely the Dyson V8 Absolute. The current Dyson model, which comes closest to the Redroad V17 with the double roller brush, is likely to be the Dyson Omni Glide .
But the Dyson Omni-Glide only has 0,2 liters of space in the dust container and is therefore of no interest to us. The Dyson V8 is therefore the vacuum cleaner that I would like to use for comparison here.
The Redroad V17 and the Dyson V8 Absolute are also close in terms of the structure of the vacuum cleaner and the dust container. In principle, I would also say that the suction power is similar in turbo mode.
What you notice, however, is that the turbo brush on the Dyson is much faster and thus pulls animal hair out of carpets and upholstered furniture more successfully. That's not to say that the Redroad V17 can't do it, but the Dyson is still ahead, especially with thicker carpets.
On the left you can see the Dyson brush and on the right the Redroad brush: The two rollers mean that the Redroad brush is suitable for hard floors as well as for carpets and upholstery, but the power of the integrated brush motor is higher on the Dyson (Photos: Sir Apfelot).
On the other hand, the Redroad V17 scores with three different suction levels where the Dyson only has two and the Redroad V17 offers a colored LCD display for the battery level and the current suction mode.
And the biggest advantage that the Redroad V17 offers in contrast to the Dyson V8 Absolute: You can unplug the battery and plug in a removable battery. Only the newer – and significantly more expensive – Dyson models offer this.
The articulated mechanics of the Redroad is a unique selling point. Handy for vacuuming under furniture (our dog thought so too!), but don't forget that suction power is lost with every kink in the airflow.
The last advantage is the kink adapter, which makes vacuuming under sofas and other furniture easier. The disadvantage of the adapter, however, is that the suction tube always buckles during normal use, which I personally found annoying. That's why I didn't use the adapter any further, except for the test.
In my opinion, the Redroad V17 is a perfect cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It scores mainly with the possibility of changing the battery and with the many attachments and adapters that are included.
The suction power is excellent because it can keep up with my Dyson and it's already in the premier league, if I may call it that.
The Dyson cannot offer an exact display of the battery life as a percentage – but the Redroad V17 can. Not really vital, but quite pretty and you have more insight into how long you can suck..
Unfortunately, the "bend function" highlighted in the advertising for the Redroad V17 is not that practical in everyday life, but since it is simply solved with an adapter, you can simply do without it.
