[Reader question] Send online faxes without a contract

send faxes online

Today I got a request from a reader who occasionally needs to send a fax but doesn't need to receive any faxes. Putting up a real fax for this purpose today probably only comes to mind in German authorities.

Since my readers rarely have to send faxes, they would like to do without monthly costs and without a contract and would rather pay per fax or per page.

I searched a bit for solutions regarding this and found the following possibilities.

Fax machines have not been used much for years - except in German health authorities - so it is better for a normal person to use an online fax service.

Send faxes online as an email – for Telekom customers

As a Deutsche Telekom customer, you can send faxes from the e-mail center. In order for this to be possible, you first have to register with their PC-Fax service. How this works is on this support page explained.

When this is set up, you get a "Fax" button (top right) in the e-mail center. How to use this service is explained here, but I also include the quick guide in this article:

  1. Click on the "Fax" button at the top right.
  2. Enter the recipient's fax number in the space provided.
  3. If you want to add an attachment to your fax, click on "Attachment" in the form and select the appropriate attachment. (Files saved in a graphic format (jpg, jpeg, gif, tiff, tif, png, bmp) can be accepted as attachments. PDF files are also possible.)
  4. If you want to add a signature to your fax, you have to scan it in once and save it as a graphic file. Then select "Add Signature" and upload your signature file.

Certainly not all readers will now be Telekom customers, which is why I have an alternative here that I used myself years ago. I had forgotten, but when I saw the website, the optics looked familiar.

Simple-Fax.de – Send and receive faxes online without a contract

The website simple-fax.de actually offers three services:

  • Sending faxes without a fax machine (with your own number)
  • Sending letters online (the letter will then be sent by them)
  • SMS dispatch online (also to several addressees)
The Simple-Fax website explains how their service works. This can be used without a monthly fee, but you have to pay in a prepaid balance that you can then use to send faxes.

But today we only take care of sending faxes. Here offers Simple fax the following general conditions:

  • 0,07 EUR per page (DE)
  • no monthly costs (no contract commitment)
  • own fax number (if you deposit at least 25 EUR as prepaid credit)
  • Fax printer for Mac and PC
  • Fax to email
  • Worldwide faxing possible (other prices than DE)

I think that Simple-Fax is a good tip for everyone who (like my reader Bernd) is not a Telekom customer and still wants to send a fax for cent amounts cheaply and sporadically without advertising, who is well served with Simple-Fax .

If you depend on being able to receive faxes, then you only have to pay in a prepaid credit of 25 euros once and you will be assigned a number that you can use forever. Faxes sent to this number can be e-mailed to you.

If you want to create a free account with Simple-Fax, you can Right this way to their website.

At macbay.de you can send faxes as well as e-mail addresses. But it's not entirely free!

I have a Fritzbox 7590. This enables the fax function to be activated without any problems. Sending and receiving faxes works perfectly.

Hello Doris! Thanks for the tip. How exactly do you then send faxes from the computer? Or is that just for receiving faxes?
