Sir Apfelot newsreel, week 11 2019

Before the weekend starts, there is the Sir Apfelot newsreel at this point as usual. In other words, I'll show you Apple and tech news in one short paragraph, which I noticed particularly in the last week. Apple confirms WWDC date: June 3-7, 2019

As already here and here assumed, the period from June 3 to 7, 2019 for the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) has now been confirmed by Apple. On the official website In addition to the specially designed graphics, which are characteristic of the Apple events, there is also some information about the conference. For example, it has the motto “Write code. Blow minds. " In addition, hands-on labs, over 100 sessions on technology and design, one-on-one meetings with Apple employees, special events and more will be announced. It also shows how long you can still register for the ticket lottery in order to get a place on site.

Siri shortcuts for Google services

Among other things, the Google Translator app for iOS has received an update that enables Siri shortcuts to be used. So after the update, according to the app, bilingual dialogues with corresponding translation possible via i-device. Siri shortcuts are now also possible with regard to Google Photos. The selection of certain photos - for example via "Siri, show the last photo" - is conceivable. Details and other application examples can be found in the linked article.

Apple streaming service: At the beginning only third-party content

The Apple Movies & TV streaming service that I expect to present among others here illuminated, could only come up with third-party content at the launch. That reports 9to5Mac regarding Bloomberg. Apple's own productions should go online in autumn at the earliest. It also shows that the technology giant from Cupertino is still in negotiations with potential partners such as HBO, Showtime and Starz until shortly before the service is launched. It remains to be seen whether and which (premium) content will ultimately be available at the start of “Apple Video”. For the time being, there will only be a small number of films and series of their own, if at all.

Apple Pay: Volksbanken will also be there in 2019

Apple among the over 90 companies whose box data was made available

Box is a cloud platform for companies in which company employees, departments and the like can exchange ideas. Similar to Slack or Monday, files can be exchanged, tasks distributed and other internal information shared. This should actually be done securely and protected from unauthorized access. AirPods 2 and iPad 2019 in production

Like the iPhone ticker here reports that the mass production of the 2nd generation of wireless Bluetooth headphones from Apple has started. The magazine refers to the Asian Digitimes. In addition to the AirPods 2, the iPad 2019 should also roll off the assembly line. The interesting thing about the whole thing is that the AirPods 2 will not be presented until the WWDC in June or during the annual September keynote, but probably already at the aforementioned "It's Show Time" event on March 25th. Whether this is really the case remains to be seen. Because it is expected from other side that the event only serves to present services and subscription services.

Persistent Apple iCloud problems seem to have been resolved

Video games: Trüberbrook and LEGO Movie 2 for Mac released

Trüberbrook is an elaborately produced point-n-click adventure from the workshops of the Bild-und-Ton-Fabrik (btf). The production company is responsible, among other things, for the Neo Magazin Royale with Jan Böhmermann on ZDFneo. Böhmermann also has, along with other entertainers, a speaking role in the game, the scenes of which were built as miniatures, photographed and then rendered in 3D worlds. In addition to Windows, Linux, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, there is the game also for macOS (Tip: instead of buying in the App Store on Steam or GOG, there are sometimes discounts for the launch).
