The Sir Apfelot app for iOS on the iPhone - it's finally ready and available for download! After looking for an iOS developer in November last year, among other things, here in the blog had been looking for, not only the search, but also the development of the application for iOS 11 and newer is over. If you want to view the contents of this blog, all guides, news, test reports, instructions, recommendations and reviews directly via the app on your iPhone, then just install the around 16 MB application and thus always stays up to date;)
If you don't want to miss any of the exciting, helpful and informative articles on this blog, you can download the Sir Apfelot app for iOS on your iPhone now. Here you can individually set whether you want to be informed about new posts via push message. This is particularly helpful when I write about time-limited offers for hardware or software.
You can also mark your favorite posts as favorites and thus always have exactly the news at hand that you wanted to tell your colleagues about, or the instructions that will help you troubleshoot at home on your Mac. All functions of the app, screenshots from the iPhone X and of course the download can be found in the Apple App Store:

The career path: programmer, problems and solutions
I have to admit, I thought things would be a little simpler. Before I started looking for an iOS programmer, I tried various services that offered to convert a Wordpress blog into an iOS app. It was already clear to me that you can't customize much here, but I didn't expect that anything halfway usable would fall out. I think I had tried a total of three such WordPress to app services but all failed.
My search for a programmer, mentioned above, was successful at some point after I got the tip from a developer, whose app I presented on the blog, to contact an iOS developer who was friends with him. And we actually came to an agreement relatively quickly. As the saying goes: the chemistry was right! Together we made a plan of which features the app should get, which version two it could get and how the whole thing should be implemented optically. After a few months of planning and development, version 1 was recently completed, which has now also landed in the app store.
If any of you are also planning to "pour" a Wordpress blog into an iOS app, then I can put you in touch with the programmer. There is no ready-made solution to this problem that is even remotely good enough to present to its readers. And ultimately, nothing beats your own app, which you can also customize at any point in order to improve the user experience or to incorporate interesting features.
How do you like the iOS app for the blog?
What do you think of the Sir Apfelot iOS app for the Apple iPhone? Which display option do you use and which type of posts would you mainly mark as favorites? Feel free to leave your impressions and opinions as comments! Of course, I am always happy about a positive evaluation of the application in the store;)
And yes: of course, the app must also be available for the iPad. But for financial reasons I first had to bake small rolls and will then deliver the iPad version of the app soon. I will certainly inform you about this update with a small post in the blog when the time comes.
Jens has been running the blog since 2012. He appears as Sir Apfelot for his readers and helps them with problems of a technical nature. In his free time he drives electric unicycles, takes photos (preferably with his iPhone, of course), climbs around in the Hessian mountains or hikes with the family. His articles deal with Apple products, news from the world of drones or solutions for current bugs.
Did you like the article and did the instructions on the blog help you? Then I would be happy if you the blog via a Steady Membership would support.
In the Sir Apfelot Blog you will find advice, instructions and reviews on Apple products such as the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, iMac, Mac Pro, Mac Mini and Mac Studio.

I downloaded the app to my IPhone SE. I've tried it out extensively and written a review about it. In short: the app is a success. This can also be used very well on the IPhone SE (4 inch), is clear and ideally suited for making a pre-selection of which articles you want to read later on the "big" website for more in-depth reading. On the go you are well informed on the iPhone. My thanks to the developers who also thought of us 4-inch iPhone owners.
Hello Horst! Thank you for your assessment! I'm happy to pass on the praise for the "small" devices! LG
Hello Jens, I just installed the app on the iPad Pro and it works ... cool part and I have to say that I'm a little jealous ...
Many greetings from Mari
Hello Mari! Ah, good to know. My developer may have unlocked it for the iPad, but it's not a version in the App Store that is specifically optimized for the large display on the iPad. We want to tackle that in the next few weeks. But thank you for pointing out that you can use the app well on the iPad Pro! LG! Jens
