Test: clear TPU case and protective glass for the iPhone 12 Pro

In the test: The Artwizz NoCase and SecondDisplay for the iPhone 12 Pro

The manufacturer Artwizz sent me two of his products to test a few days ago. This is a case made of transparent TPU and a protective glass film, which protects the display of the iPhone 12 Pro. Here are the product names and links to Amazon:

I have attached both the case and the screen protector to my iPhone 12 Pro and I think both are so good that they are worth recommending.

Both products are of course also available for the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max models.

Transparency notice

Artwizz provided me with the case and the protective glass film free of charge for the test. However, there is no condition attached to this. Anyone who reads my tests regularly will know that I evaluate things very critically. So you can be sure that I don't praise any product beyond the green clover just because the manufacturer gives me something for free.

I tested the Artwizz "NoCase" case and the "SecondDisplay" protective glass film for you and can generally give the two products the green light (photos: Sir Apfelot).

The Artwizz NoCase - handy and unobtrusive

The new design of the iPhone 12 is definitely a positive "step backwards", because anyone who still knows the iPhone 5 will also know the angular look of the model. From my point of view, the advantages are not only optical, but also practical, because the new design is very comfortable to hold and seems to me to be significantly less “slippery” than the design with the rounded edges, as we do from iPhone 6 to iPhone 11 know.

Despite all the assurances from Apple that the new iPhone 12 can withstand more drops than the iPhone 11, I don't want to do without a protective cover. So far I've always had that QuadLock case in use, but with the new mounting option offered by MagSafe, I would now like to switch to a case that is less thick, but still allows me to quickly attach the iPhone to a car holder. With MagSafe, this should be possible when the first MagSafe car mounts hit the market.

Here you can see the released mute switch and the buttons, which are flexibly covered.

Predicate "optically minimally invasive"

The Artwizz NoCase came in very handy for me because it is made of transparent, clear TPU and is therefore hardly noticeable when you attach it to the iPhone. I find the design of the iPhone 12 Pro just too pretty to spoil it with an ugly case.

The corrugated structure on the inside of the NoCase ensures that the case does not get stuck in unsightly spots on the iPhone (photos: Sir Apfelot).

On the inside, the NoCase has a corrugated structure that prevents "suction surfaces" from forming where the iPhone and the case stick together. This is technically not a problem, but it would look ugly and if you look at the back you would immediately see that the iPhone is in a case.

Otherwise, TPU has the advantage that it is significantly less prone to yellowing due to UV radiation than silicone. Everyone has probably seen such yellowish-colored covers before. This usually happens after a few months if the material is not UV-resistant.

Small disadvantage of all transparent covers (silicone or TPU): You can see fingerprints much more clearly than on the iPhone directly.

Here you can see again how much fingerprints accumulate on the TPU case. However, you have to accept this visual flaw with all transparent covers.

Protection for the camera too

You can tell that someone has thought about the development of the NoCase, among other things, from the fact that there is a slight elevation in the area of the camera lenses, which protects the lenses when the iPhone is put down with the camera facing down.

I find the elevation in the case, which protects the camera element of the iPhone 12 when you put the iPhone down with your back, very practical.

Good protection with a minimal optical footprint

All in all, I would say that the Artwizz "NoCase" case is one of the best cases if you want good fall protection but don't want to spoil your iPhone with a case. Because it protects both the camera optics and the edges of the iPhone on the front, you have good all-round protection.

The non-slip material also means that you don't have to worry that the iPhone will slip out of your hand while using it or that it will become independent on sloping surfaces.

Artwizz's NoCase is not really invisible, but you can see through every MNege iPhone, which I really like.

If you're interested in Artwizz's NoCase, you'll find it here in the Artwizz shop, here at Amazon or via this product box:

Incidentally, the NoCase is not only available for that iPhone 12 or 12 Pro, but also for that iPhone 12 Pro Max and I baked the 12 iPhone Mini.

Good screen protection: the Artwizz SecondDisplay

Actually, I'm not a fan of protective glass on the iPhone, but after the display of my iPhone XS got a good scratch, I now see things differently. A protective glass shatters faster than the display, but the display is spared and has only lost between 10 and 20 euros.

The Artwizz screen protector consists of a layer of glass, a film and a layer of silicone. The silicone adheres to the iPhone display and ensures glue-free application. The film protects the display from splinters of the glass in an emergency and the glass itself is important so that you have a touch feel that corresponds to the iPhone display. The glass actually feels like the original display. There are no problems here.

The operation is actually possible without any restrictions. The Assistive Touch - i.e. the longer press on one point - is the same as before.

The Assistive Touch and the other controls work as usual with the attached SecondDisplay - the SecondDisplay is highly recommended in this regard.

In addition to the bulletproof glass (still packed in the picture on the left), the scope of delivery of the SecondDisplay also includes a dust removal adhesive strip and a microfiber cloth for cleaning the display.

Criticism: No positioning aid included

I only have one criticism of the SecondDisplay: It is not easy for people without practice to apply it. There are other screen protection solutions that come with a positioning aid. As a result, the protective glass sits in the right place on the first try. About this link you will find an overview of such protective glass films for the iPhone 12/12 Pro with frames for correct positioning.

Unfortunately, such a frame is missing on the SecondDisplay and I was unfortunately marginally off the mark when attaching it and had to lift the glass again. A speck of dust got lost under the screen protector, which is now visible and annoying even when the display is active. Here Artwizz should really think again about a frame for the attachment.

When trying to reposition the bulletproof glass again, I managed to get a speck of dust under the glass - unfortunately, even after several attempts, it was not possible to completely remove the grain from the adhesive silicone layer.

Otherwise, the protective glass from Artwizz is really very good. It feels great and the operation isn't limited at all. If you didn't see the edges of the protective glass, you might think there is no protection on the display.

If you want to get the SecondDisplay, you will find it here in the Artwizz shop, here at Amazon or via this product box:

Entry-level combination: SecondDisplay and NoCase together

If you want to buy both products, you will also find the set of NoCase and SecondDisplay in one. This offers a price advantage over individual purchases, but is currently only available for that iPhone 12/12 Pro and I baked the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
