THE blog or THE blog – both are correct

THE or THE blog

I just received an email from a reader who pointed out a phrase in my newsletter that he thought was wrong:

Hi Jens, I always look forward to and enjoy reading the “Sir Apfelot” newsletter. I keep hearing that the information and help is gladly accepted.

However, from week to week, I encounter a small grammatical error.

Following the promotion of Sadaghian, their reference to small credits they receive for successfully initiating a reader's business with Sadaghian:

“Sadaghian supports my blog..... That should be corrected in “Sadaghian supported mean blog...".

This happens to me every once in a while and it doesn't really matter. However, I think you should correct that.

I had previously thought that I was right with "my blog", but apparently I was wrong here. But since I had already read different spellings several times, I wanted to get clarity before I log in to my newsletter provider and change the wording.

The Duden is relatively clear when it comes to the question of whether it is THE blog or THE blog (screenshot: Duden).

What does the dictionary say about the blog?

The right place to go for questions like this is usually the Duden, which is why I ended up there after a quick Google search. And what Google says is actually the most diplomatic answer you can give to the question "Is it called this or that blog?":

Blog, this or that

Part of speech: noun, neuter, or noun, masculine

So: both are correct - "the blog" can be used in the same way as "the blog". But neither my readers nor I wanted to be satisfied with that...

“The Blog” seems more common

One advantage of my blog is that you have a relatively large number of reader contacts. And one of them happens to be a German teacher. D. – @Josef: wave, wave! And I also asked Josef about the matter. It may be that according to Duden both are ok, but sometimes one spelling is more common than the other. And that's exactly what I wanted to know from Josef. He replied to my email that he had never heard of “the blog” and only ever reads “the blog”. It seems like "the blog" is actually the more common version, so I'll give up and only write about male blogs in the future.

At this point I would like to say thank you to every attentive reader who sends me corrections. When you write blog articles, there are always mistakes and you are relatively blind when it comes to finding them during proofreading.
