I have to say, I really love these little USB lighters. Even though I'm neither a smoker nor a pyromaniac. But a penchant for lighters in men can certainly somehow be explained by the history of development. Back then in Neandertalerhausen we always had to turn on the tea lights and so we still have fun making a fire today. ;-)

Test object: Plasma USB lighter from VOSO
I recently had a USB lighter from eFuego, but it went back to the dealer because of a loose connection on the USB socket. Then I thought I'd look for one of the inexpensive models and give it a chance. One of the bestsellers on Amazon is definitely this VOSO plasma lighter, which with a price of around 10 euros definitely belongs to the lower price segment. You can also easily find models from other brands for 30 euros, but they also only produce one arc with which you can infect your “workpiece” (candles, cigarettes, fireplace lighter, etc.).
VOSO Plasma Lighter is convincing: price good, quality too
I always find it exciting to see how the price affects the product and the quality. The VOSO lighter is a metal lighter in the classic Zippo format (maybe a tad thicker). In terms of weight, you have around 80 grams in your hand, while a normal plastic lighter only weighs around 15 grams. The difference is of course due to the metal and the built-in lithium-ion battery.
Personally, I don't mind the higher weight. Instead, I enjoy the good workmanship, because with the VOSO lighter you can open a bottle of Radler without any problems, without having to worry that the lighter will bless the time.
USB lighter: Comfortable handling and ergonomic format
Anyone who has ever used a Zippo lighter will know how good these petrol lighters are in the hand. The VOSO has a very similar format and the latch that snaps open and closed was certainly not invented by VOSO - but it is still practical.
The ignition is triggered by a button on the upper, sloping side. The button is positioned in such a way that it cannot be accidentally triggered when the lid is closed. Due to the smooth surface of the metal, it is also very unlikely that the lighter in the pocket will open by itself. The snap lock has enough tension to prevent this from happening. Nevertheless, you can easily open and close it with your thumb. Nothing stands in the way of one-handed use.
Double-arc lighter: advantage or disadvantage?
What is immediately noticeable at the first ignition is the double arc, which can be seen here in the photo above. One speaks here of the "Double Arc Plasma Lighter". However, this is more interesting for decorative purposes, since you can light a candle with a single arc just as quickly as with two.
However, the Double Arc could have a small disadvantage, because in the same time the double arc naturally requires twice the battery capacity. That means, the lighters, which only build up a single arc, are probably more “economical”. After a load I gave the lighter to my kids, who tormented it permanently and after a good quarter of an hour I got it back empty. ;-)
A good mix: lighter, plasma and children ... ;-)
Speaking of children and arc lighters: I think this lighter is very suitable for children (under the supervision of their parents), as the technique with the rotary wheel (with normal lighters) requires some practice. And then the wheel often gets hot if you leave the flame on for a long time and the children burn their thumbs.
With the arc lighter you can activate the arc easily by pressing a button, which even small children can do. Also, no flame can lick up if you hold the lighter down. If you explain to the child that the arc is still extremely hot, then it is a good alternative to the normal lighter. Especially if the kids want to light up the children's lighter on New Year's Eve, this is a lot easier with this device.
Why is my lighter beeping?
By the way: When you press the button to ignite, there is a low, high-frequency beeping that lasts for as long as you press the button. It's not very loud, but you can hear it. This is triggered by the high-voltage electronics that make parts in the lighter vibrate. This is perfectly normal and something that every plasma lighter brings with it.
With some models the sound is a little deeper and therefore "annoying", but with the VOSO it is so high that you can hardly hear it. From my point of view, it is not very annoying. By the way, my cat ignores it completely ... doesn't seem any worse than the rest of the noise I make while testing bluetooth speakers. : D
Charge the lighter via USB with LED charging indicator
The lighter is not refilled with lighters, but with one Micro-USBconnector found on the bottom of the lighter - hence the name USB lighter. There you plug in the supplied micro-USB cable and you can use any USB charger or power bank to “fill” the lighter again.
During the charging process, a small blue LED lights up on the underside, which goes out when the battery is fully charged. If the LED is off, the USB lighter is ready for use again.
Conclusion on the VOSO lighter without gas and petrol
I have to say: I'm more likely to have a power bank with me than a bottle of petrol or lighter gas. For this reason, a flameless lighter that can be charged via USB is a really practical thing for me.
The VOSO model is definitely the "price hit" among all plasma lighters, because you hardly get any other model for 10 EUR. And although I didn't expect much due to the price, the VOSO lighter convinces with good quality, a chic look (the model is also available in subtle colors) and a decent battery life.
I can therefore recommend the VOSO plasma lighter with a clear conscience. Due to the price, it is particularly suitable as a souvenir with an aha effect.
If you want to buy it, you will find it here at Amazon.

I ordered the Voso even though I've been a non-smoker for 10 years. It arrived today well packaged and already loaded. It doesn't just look good. It lies comfortably in the hand and can be easily operated with one hand. It is the modern representative of the famous Zippos, some of which have been lying around with me for a long time. It can hardly be heard and the price is very cheap. I can only recommend it.
Hello Horst! I'm glad you like it too. I still have two Tesla Lighter plasma lighters here to test. I'll introduce them soon. One is a stick lighter, which is of course particularly practical if you want to turn on tea lights in a lantern. But I haven't unpacked the two devices yet, so I can't report anything about them yet. The VOSO is definitely super good for the price. LG! Jens
The Tesla stick variant would be interesting for me as a present for my sister-in-law. because she has to light a number of decorative candles and tea lights during the Christmas season.
Ah ok! Then here is the reference to Amazon: It is that Tesla Lighter T07. LG! Jens
