General Data Protection Regulation: Meta has to pay a fine of 1,2 billion euros
The week began with a report from the Data Protection Commission (DPC) in Ireland, which imposed a record fine of 1,2 billion euros on Facebook's parent company Meta. If you don't want any articles, posts, websites and news about yourself in Google's results list, you can't just ask for the individual entries to be deleted. Rather, it must be proven that the information in the publications is incorrect and thus paints a false picture. Google is not obliged to research the truthfulness of the publications itself or to approach individuals. Photoshop: Adobe builds AI directly into the image processing

Retro tinkering: play Doom via teletext technology
"Does it play Doom?" is a question that has become a meme, which can often be answered with a yes after some tinkering - regardless of whether the device in question is a graphics-capable calculator or the display of an office printer. Teletext was added this week to the already huge collection of devices and systems on which (after some manipulation) you can play the classic shooter Doom. Official ChatGPT App for the Apple iPhone
From the company OpenAI, which has become known worldwide through the "ChatGPT" AI, there is now an official iPhone app for using machine text creation. Thanks to this offer, you no longer have to download any AI app on the off chance and hope that it will establish a problem-free connection to the ChatGPT offer. After the official ChatGPT app for iOS was recently launched for the USA, it can now also be used in Germany. Download, installation and use of the basic functions are free of charge. Possible uses of the ChatGPT app for the iPhone
The app can be used to send queries to the chat bot ChatGPT both by text and by voice input. The app description notes that it can provide instant answers, provide advice tailored to the request, provide creative inspiration, offer professional input, and identify learning opportunities. Here, on the part of OpenAI, people dance around the fact that ChatGPT also likes to talk nonsense and that the text output should not be viewed as a fact without being checked. Currently, only English is offered as the app language. However, the local release could indicate that there will be UI translations soon.
App settings for privacy
The official ChatGPT application for the iPhone could probably only now be activated in Germany because the new version 1.2023.22 also added a few privacy settings. Because in addition to voice input in languages other than English, this version now also allows you to prevent the recording and transmission of the chat history under "Data Controls". In this way, it is not transferred to other devices on which the same OpenAI account is used. In addition, it is not used for training new AI models. Despite the setting, the chat history is still available locally for 30 days if you want to look something up. You can find the official download of the software, which measures 16,3 MB and can be used from iOS 16.1 here in the iOS App Store (so far no usage possibilities for iPad and Mac).

Request missing LEGO bricks: Here's how!
This blog is not always just about Apple and technology, but sometimes also about toys and other physical products that have nothing to do with electronics or software. And the fact that new LEGO sets can sometimes be missing a brick or two certainly fits into this series of irregular excursions into the world of fun.
