WWDC 2018 transcripts - lectures and presentations available as text

This year's Apple World Wide Developers Conference took place from June 4 to 8, 2018 and, in addition to the extensive keynote at the start, brought numerous other lectures, presentations and workshops. This included the innovations and possibilities of the upcoming operating systems such as iOS 12, Watch 5, TvOS 12 and macOS 10.14 Mojave deepened. Those interested have been able to understand the individual events of WWDC 2018 so far via video on the Apple website or via WWDC.io app for Mac. Now the WWDC 2018 transcripts are also available - details can be found here.

If you have a look at the videos of WWDC 2018 on Apple's developer page, you can now also find the transcripts of the individual sessions.

WWDC 2018 transcripts - simply download session text

For every "session" of WWDC 2018 you can find on developer.apple.com/videos/wwdc2018/ the corresponding video. Small descriptions and a preview image each give a brief insight into what awaits you in the session recording. If you click on one of the headings or one of the thumbnails, you will get to the bottom of the lecture / presentation. There you can either start the video, download it, save the presentation slides as a PDF download or view the transcript of the video via the "Transcript" tab.

On the website you can click on individual text passages to jump to the corresponding point in the video. However, if you want to use the text independently of the video, to quote from it, to use the search function or to create a local collection on your computer, then simply use the download. The “Download” button is located directly between the tab selection (“Overview” and “Transcript”) and the embedded transcript. The download happened very quickly after clicking the button, because only a text file in txt format is saved. In it you can now search, mark, copy and so on.

Small disadvantage: no clear naming

I once downloaded two transcripts as a test, and I noticed a small but subtle disadvantage of the whole thing: the names of the txt files are simply "transcript", "transcript-2" and so on. So if you download multiple transcripts of WWDC sessions, you should make the effort to name them clearly to keep track of them. Or you can create a folder for each session and save the transcript files (including video) in it.

You should rename or move the transcripts immediately after the download so as not to get confused. WWDC 2018 transcripts

Transcripts of sessions from older WWDCs

A little tip at the end: If you want to watch the videos of the older WWDC events, read their transcripts or download everything, just change the URL. As you can see above, it says the slug / videos / wwdc2018 - Just change the last digit to a 7, 6 or smaller digit, and you get to the notes that have driven developers to apps and innovations in recent years;) Have fun browsing!
