However, there are a few things to consider here: First of all, of course, you have to check whether the Apple mobile phone has a SIM lock. Many mobile phone providers still sold the 4s with NET or SIM lock and this lock is valid for 2 years after the initial purchase. Only after this time can the provider switch off the SIM lock and use prepaid cards, for example. You should definitely clarify with the seller before buying whether it is really simlock-free.

Problem cases with the iPhone 4s

The hanging or unresponsive home button is also a problem that often occurs with used iPhones. Here, too, the seller should have confirmed that the device offered does not have this problem.

Finally, there are two things that are unfortunately less difficult to assess. One is the display, which usually has scratches to a greater or lesser extent. If the previous owner always used a protective film, the scratches should be very subtle. However, if you always have the iPhone 4s in a pocket with your keychain, then it is clear that the scratches are likely to be a bit more noticeable. It is difficult to get a realistic assessment from the seller here.

The iPhone battery: 2 years of use are no reason for a replacement battery

The same applies to the battery, which you can't necessarily change yourself on the iPhone 4s without special tools, good eyesight and a strong tendency to do tricky puzzles. As a rule (at least that's my experience) the battery is still ok even after 2 years of diligent use (at the end of the day I always have an almost empty battery). Maybe it no longer has the capacity of a new battery, but I don't notice any difference myself. If you want to be on the safe side, you should ask the provider how often he has used the device and whether the battery was charged daily or more likely every 2-3 days. If the battery is charged daily, the battery life is of course a little shorter, but you don't necessarily have to plan for a replacement battery just because you buy the Apple iPhone from a power user.

I personally buy used devices that are a little more expensive at Amazon. Customers can also use their iPhone 4s there and offer it to other customers.
