The time leading up to Christmas is always a good time to think a little bit about the past year. Yesterday I went on a winter walk in the forest and thought about what had happened to my blog “Sir Apfelot”. I also started Sir Apfelot in the wintertime – back in November 2012. That was a good four years ago, but a lot only happened last year.
Chapter in this post:
What happened in 2016 ...
There are always a few important developments that come up in a year. This is how my blog became in the Appy Geek app addedwhich led to a slight increase in visitors. Another point that has given the blog a bit of a boost is the article frequency, which has been increased a bit so that the weekly newsletter is not always just one post. :)
Another step towards the future was the conversion of the Wordpress theme to a responsive design that also looks good on iPhone and iPad and is pleasant to read. At this point I would like to thank Holger Lenzdorf, who takes care of my Wordpress and, in addition to the beautiful design of the website, also keeps the functionality behind it going!
I also have support from John (1000 thanks for your tireless help!) Who writes one or two articles on the blog and helps me to keep the blog up to date while I take care of my customers NT SEO take care. In addition to blogging, I work as a search engine optimizer for some companies and help position their company websites on Google.
From self-employed SEO to full-time blogger ...
My self-employment as an SEO is fun for me, because you never stop learning and can work relatively flexibly, but my dream is to earn my living as a blogger "Sir Apfelot". I'm still a long way from that, but thanks to my readers, I'm getting closer and closer.
And so we come to the next important change at Sir Apfelot: The readership has grown a lot and I notice that there are some regular readers who keep commenting on articles. I'm really pleased, because what is a blog without a reader? Like a coffee without a coffee drinker or a TouchBar without a finger or an iPhone case without an iPhone - simply totally meaningless!
So let me tell you:
You are the best change!
And in order to acknowledge this fact accordingly, I would like to use this post to say a special thank you to you! You are the reason I enjoy Sir Apfelot so much! When I started blogging, I used to write most of the posts and thought “Will someone read this?”…
Today I see the number of visitors to the old posts and I can say: Yes, there is definitely a lot of reading! Some posts already have more than 40.000 views and new posts quickly have over 100 views thanks to e-mail newsletters, Twitter and Facebook. So I know: There are people who actually “sacrifice” their time and read my lines. And that's why there is also a premiere here at Sir Apfelot: The first thank you and Christmas article I've ever written! And it applies to none other than YOU! :D
But now enough of the swollen praise ... to cut a long story short:
I wish you and your loved ones a nice tree festival (there are also people who can't start with Christmas), a few cozy holidays and a happy new year 2017!
Stay healthy, don't get the Christmas flu and enjoy the good times "offline" - at least every now and then! ;-)
I look forward to reading each other again next year!

Jens has been running the blog since 2012. He acts as Sir Apfelot for his readers and helps them with technical problems. In his spare time he rides electric unicycles, takes photos (preferably with the iPhone, of course), climbs around in the Hessian mountains or hikes with the family. His articles deal with Apple products, news from the world of drones or solutions to current bugs.
I'll join you with a comment and wish all readers of Sir-Apfelot.de and of course you, Jens, a wonderful tree festival, Christmas, Channukah, Yule Festival, Raunächte and so on! And thank you for the work, reading, commenting, and making this page what it is now.
